Hello,
my name is Tabitha Rogers. My husband
and I live in Pickens, South Carolina. Our
property is located at the foot of Tater
Hill Mountain, hence the name of our
rabbitry.
Our rabbitry, ARBA registered rabbitry #
Y390, currently consists of 15
outdoor hutches and continues to grow. We
moved to this property in April 2005 and
have been falling in love with it ever
since.
Prior to moving here, we lived in a
subdivision. We are thoroughly enjoying
living in the country. We both grew up on
farms and love all types of animals.
I
got my first pet rabbit in the spring of
2004. She was a Holland Lop named
Priscilla. In December 2005, I added
another pet rabbit. I was told at the pet
store that she was a miniature Holland Lop.
I came home
and began researching. This led me to the
Mini Lop. It was at this time that I
responded to an ad placed by Samantha Bright
of Bright Idea Bunz. I met her in a rest
stop parking lot in February 2006 to pick up
my first Mini Lop, a senior opal doe named
Swan. And it’s from here that the Journey
began.
I attended
my first rabbit show in March 2006 and I was
hooked. Little did I know that it was at
this show that I would meet some dear
friends, Trent and Janet Canipe of Fatboy’s
Rabbitry. To help me get started, they gave
me a beautiful junior buck, my beloved
Porkchop. Since then, I’ve purchased two
more rabbits from them. Both of which have
produced beautiful litters.
Being
completely new to this, I learn something
every day about raising Mini Lops. I want
to thank God for allowing these beautiful
animals to come into my life. I want to
thank the Canipes for their help and
patience. I also want to especially thank
my husband. I am so fortunate to have a
supportive husband. He helps me so much
especially with building cages. I am very
excited to watch our rabbitry grow as we
raise up some of our juniors!
In addition
to the Mini Lops, we also have a parrot, a
cat, 2 Dobermans, 3 English Springer
Spaniels, 1 Shih Tzu, 1 Beagle, pygmy goats,
and chickens. My husband and I aspire to
begin raising Beagles and Shih Tzus, but
will concentrate mostly on English Springer
Spaniels. Recently, we purchased the
pasture next to our property and hope to
begin raising sheep and registered pygmy
goats.
We hope you
enjoy your visit to the TaterHill Rabbits
website. Come back often!
